uk Team Dignitas have released another spotlight, this time we decided to put none other than uk Elliot "wEZlington" Welsh in the spotlight. From wez's real life up to the start of his eSports career, we talk about everything. Find out some details about wez's CGS experience aswell as the future plans of our CS team.

On to the CGS, you've been drafted into Birmingham Salvo which made you switch from CS1.6 to CSS, what was it like playing in the CGS for you?

wez: CGS was awesome, even though I didn't really enjoy CSS it was amazing while it lasted. Going to the World Finals for a month all expenses paid plus a salary on top and having celebrities turning up to CGS parties was crazy. Team wise we were at our peak aswell, we played so much Source it would blow your mind, but the result of that was us being the best team in Europe for a pretty long time and winning lots of cash, so definitely worth it!

Last night/tonight was a great success, firstly with us having more than 16 teams apply with only 5 hours notice was quite amazing but on top of that all the teams turned up and played there games. We even had Best of three maps games going on, which made for some more exciting games. Apart from the anticheat lagging which hopefully we will be able to fix next week there was minimal moaning and teams just got on with getting the games played this was much appreciated.

So let’s keep the ball rolling with this new found activity, as well as running these one night cups which will continue on different dates. I am happy to announce tonight a new tournament something which will not only give teams plenty of games to play but provide us theSGL with a lot more valid seeding information than a one night cup can offer.

theSGL Summer Cup

There will be four divisions of six teams each game will be best of three maps these games will be quick and intense with one game every other night you can use the spare nights as reschedule nights if you wish. Once all fixtures have been completed we will then run a knockout tournament the top two teams of each group will be one knockout, the next two teams will be another knockout tournament and the last two teams will provide the last knockout tournament. Again this will be fast organized games. A full schedule is below.

Schedule of games:

League stage:
Match 1: 20th July 2010
Match 2: 22nd July 2010
Match 3: 25th July 2010
Match 4: 27th July 2010
Match 5: 29th July 2010
Reschedules may happen between these dates

Knockout Stages:
Quarter Final: 1st August 2010
Semi Final: 3rd August 2010
Final: 5th August 2010

Scores must be submitted to (Blizzard) via the website.

Games will be on your own servers, an admin will not always be on but we will try to be about on match nights when we can. We will once again post which teams are accepted onto a forum thread to keep people up to date.

To sign up to the summer cup please go to http://www.thesgl.com/cs/news/686/

The rumours are true Blizzard has announced a new pre-tournament before the launch of season 11. In the last week a few successful cups have been ran to find out if the UK scene is once again becoming active. The turnout was very positive with 20 teams taking part and all running smoothly with no hassle. MEGA CHETSMODE won the Online Heroes #01 Cup, mindgames wont the Online Heroes #01a Cup & finally cLip won the Online Heroes #01b Cup.

Signups are currently open for theSGL Summer Cup. The format of this cup is a league stage of 6 teams, then onto a knockout stage. Head over to herehttp://www.thesgl.com/cs/news/686/ and get signed up! The results of this will go towards the seeding of the new season!

Good Luck to all that join.

The EPS Season 3 CS 1.6 semi-finals have taken place over the last week. The finals have been played online as opposed to the promised LAN arrangement as ESL wish to save money.

A quick reminder to all UK players to join the ESL EAS or Mix ladder and play at least a dozen games per week in the hopes CS 1.6 is considered for another EPS season. Get gaming!

Semi-Final:

uk vVv [16:06] cLip uk (de_tuscan)
uk vVv [16:10] cLip uk (de_inferno

uk dignitas.intel [08:16] vitalsigns uke (de_dust2)
uk dignitas.intel [16:08] vitalsigns uke (de_nuke)
uk dignitas.intel [13:16] vitalsigns uke (de_inferno)

3rd/4th Place Playoff (Date tba)

uk dignitas.intel [xx:xx] cLip uk (de_tba)
uk dignitas.intel [xx:xx] cLip uk (de_tba)

Final: (Sunday)

uk vVv [xx:xx] vitalsigns uke (de_tba)
uk vVv [xx:xx] vitalsigns uke (de_tba)

The UKs top two teams will battle it out to take away the cash prizes guaranteed by ESL. Both will be attending wiredout to determine who really is the UKs top team on LAN.

Gold Trophy 1st. uk vVv / uke vitalsigns - €2,000
Silver Trophy 2nd. uk vVv / uke vitalsigns - €850
Bronze Trophy 3rd. uk dignitas.intel / uk cLip - €500
4th. uk dignitas.intel / uk cLip - €250

In addition to these amounts, all teams is due to receive win bonuses of €30 each. The four teams in the playoffs will receive the following;

uk dignitas.intel - €300
uk vVv - €270
uk cLip - €240
uke vitalsigns - €240

uk dignitas.intel and uke vitalsigns will have their total prize monies reduced by 12% as each team has 4 minor penalty points. How this amount will be distributed, UKCT is unsure. Our best guess is that ESL will pocket the money - This is solely the opinion of the writer of this news post.

Lineups:

uk dignitas.intel (wEZ, f0z, Kurt1s, AaroN, KYESAR)
uk vVv (zaK, arch1e_tt, faken, taLz, JungleboY, KENJi)*
uk cLip (Bobathy, MClRN, Oobie, SPANKY, SkullsY)
uke vitalsigns (onscreen, spK, MaTzz, IRISH, quick)

* KENJinn played the semi-final match.

GL to each team in their final matches!
