4K^natu Interviewed

Posted by ukenuex on the 4th of December 2005 at 5:07 PM.

Over at SK Gaming, they've conducted the 2nd in a series that they're calling the 'definitive' interviews - this time with uk Four King's Finnish star natu. The interview starts with some in-depth background information...

The Finnish CS scene was once dominated by the legendary clan z and clan a. After these teams however the Finnish CS scene slowly got pushed back and overshadowed by the Swedish scene. With the creation of Liquid Ice and later Destination Skyline Finland was put back on the map and started to grow again. Not long after a second Finnish team started to get noticed, astralis. The battles between DSky and astralis took on epic proportions and made the Finnish scene split in two. The teams themselves only added to the hype by switching players several times. One of these players was Joona "natu" Leppänen who was considered to be the heart and soul of DSky but shocked the scene when he went to astralis. With this team he managed to go to WEG Season 2 where the fans expected them to be one of the candidates for the title. Astralis did not live up to the hype though and soon after the team started to break. natu left the team and became a hot property on the market, 4 Kings was the team that offered him the best deal both in and out of the game.

...before moving onto an interesting facts (he uses a medium sized crosshair!) & favourites (his favourite book is 'Tuntematon Sotilas'!) list, and finally the actual questions (if indeed the first few are totally Counter-Strike unrelated):

If you are at a club do you dance or just stand around chat and move your body a little ?

I'am THE discostu! Hahaha... oh gees yeah I do dance mostly, depends on my mood I guess! But when I'm on the partydrive I definitely take over the dancefloor. Then if I don't feel like it I'll just chat it up with whoever I'm with in the club hehe.

When it actually hit you that you were so good at the game, did you ever become embassed that most of yor free time went on sitting at a computer playing a game?

I don't know if it ever really hit me personally, but it definitely did to my friends. I got alot of slack for being a computergamin guru back then haha. I guess just like anyone involved in the "sport" that you have times when you just feel like you've wasted years of your life playing a stupid computer game.It took me a couple years from that point to be able to balance other aspects of my life with gaming, sadly - haha! Come to think of it though, I prolly would've just gone out more partyin 'n drinking when i was a teenager. I've noticed that there's enough years to do now that I've gotten older - and it's alot more fun now than what it was then! ;D

The interview itself does cover some very interesting topics and in quite some detail too, unfortunately though from a personal point of view, it seems to focus too much on quantity of questions/information as opposed to quality: those of you without a lot of spare time/a lot of interest in fn natu may find yourselves having to sift through some very personal, non-CS related questions to get to the few 'gems' contained...
