WCG UK LAN Qualifier Info

Posted by scojoltbigfoot on the 2nd of October 2005 at 12:56 AM.

Sunday night sees the first spots at the UK Final for this year's WorldCyberGames being decided with the culmination of the 1.6 and Source Online tournaments. However, with a combined entry of over 60 teams the majority of sides will miss out and if your team is in that position then fear not because there is always a second chance in the shape of the LAN Qualifiers that are beng held at the Starbytes gaming centre in Southampton later this month.

First up is the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament, taking place on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October with some Xbox competitions running over the same days that 1.6 players will have free entry to should they so wish. The following weekend (15th & 16th) Source takes centre-stage alongside the other PC titles such as WC3, BW, FIFA etc.

Both Counter-Strike competitions feature a £500 prize fund (£400 for winners, £100 for runners-up) with Jolt Clan Servers also up for grabs, additional prize sponsorship hopefully to be announced in the coming days. Of course the winners of each competition also earn one of the much-coveted berths at the UK final where they will battle it out against 3 other sides for the chance to get that free trip to Singapore to take a shot world's best Source teams (or 1.6 teams as seems to be the case where most countries are concerned).

Admission price is £30 per player for CS 1.6 / Source, £10 per player for the non-CS games.
