So it's been a while but it's finally going to be released, open beta is released on the 7th of september if you care to try it.
Don't think a game has ever received so much hype and from all the people i've talked to who have been taking part in the beta throughout the games development it seems the hype will be surpassed upon release date.
Anyway whole point of this is the game is pvp orientated alot of people i play wow with will be starting on release date and we will all be rolling on the same server, would be nice to have a decent community, like back on the bladefist days of wow.
So anyone looking forward to this?

Well we have a forum with probs some of the best info you will find as alot of the people on the forum talk about race/class specifics and there is ALOT of interesting things wrote on there.

I think on day of release we are going to put a server in a sticky and all agree to roll on this.
You're all welcome of course, we are trying to get a vast group together.
We did this with wow when it first released and most of the players who started that ended up in WORD (bladefist) who i do believe had the first rag kill there. (could be wrong)
Anyway everyone is welcome, no reging to read through but feel free to add if you would like to contribute.
The open beta is available to download now Nic however I don't think its open to play until 7th of september. + you need your key which you'd have if you pre ordered

monke, if you go to the forum i posted there is LOADS of threads about the open beta.
If you pre ordered the game they will email you the open beta code.
You need a code in order to get into the open beta.
If you buy the CE (collectors edition) in the shop they have a we slip inside the box you get a key on this slip.

As stated you won't actually be able to play until the 7th, I'd email them Nic as its only 3 days now until open beta, I won't be able to actually play until the 18th as I've ordered a new pc.

Yea it's a torrent style download so it does vary, leave it running overnight and it should be all done upon awake. I've heard contrasting views of speeds of up to 1600kbs after 12ish

Ive had the WAR beta for a couple of months now, its pretty good.
Still not as good as the pvp on daoc imo though <3
biggest problem is keep takes and such, get really bad FPS lag at times etc
have a geforce 7900 , 2 gig Ram etc. shit CPU though

Hi nix I know you pld wow at a high level with grum so not going to doubt you but it's a completely diff game than wow, looking for similarities in the game is initially going to make it fail no matter what.
I don't think wotlk will have to much of a grip. Wow is nothing now but a constant grind fest this is easily noticed in the new titles that are attained in the expansion.
Aka first to level 80 etc etc
I've heard nothing but good things about the game but a games not going to be for everyone. Lets all remember how buggy wow was when it first started.

Warhammer seems really good, after reading the initial post on this thread I took some time to research a bit about it. The ideas of it seem really good and different and I'll definately be giving it a go (me and monkeh are gna be playing together). I like new things and assuming they are gripping like things on WoW initially were then it will be a briliant game. There has been so much hype and people instantly wanting to play this game that I think there will an enourmous fan base for it, making it easier to play because of the amount of people. I'm really lookin forward to it regardless of some of the peoples negative comments.

Regarding the things people are saying about WoW, i think as sunzz said, if you compare games theres always going to be a hell of a lot of things which dont match, but the differencesmay turn out for the better, i.e. just because it doesnt have the same battle system as WoW doesnt mean it isnt a better one, it simply needs time to get used to.
What people are saying about wotlk bringing people back, personally I think it's unlikely. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to buy it and have a go, but Blizzard stopped providing new things for people to do, so now people are beginning to get more and more bored of the game, doing the same thing over and over again with no change other than some different templates. They did implement some new ideas into TBC but they were pretty small things that again, got boring quickly. Wotlk will obviously have different situations, different areas, items etc etc, but unless Blizzard manage to add something that is really different to keep people interested like they originally were, there will just be more and more people quitting.

Nic, i ordered from EA store and i dont have my unlock key either, i think they give it to us nearer the date but i did open up a query thing and i have asked about it, just waiting for a reply.
This game is going to be sick simply because you can level up through RvR, and sunzz i hope they go on the horde type side in that forum, as with wow i made the mistake of going alliance.
Nah sunz ive got WOTLK beta, Warhammer beta and played AoC... WH might be as good or better than WoW when it came out but nothing can beat nearly 4years of constant upgrades which is what wow has received. The grind is being taken away for WoW all the time and they have the money / people power to make constant changes, also comparing WoW to WH is fine its the same genre and aimed at the same market... that being said it wont stop be from trying it, this is just my opinion from everything i know.
Value your opinion but I think it's nothing like wow as in leveling through rvr pvp? I dont know how you can say the constant grind is being taken out of wow its actually just getting put into wow more and more with every patch/expansion

I play wow as well in a sunwell plateau guild and i can honestly say with each expansion / patch comes more grind.
For instance the new wow titles, first hunter to 80 gets the stalker title, and there is a title for every race/class.
Also titles for professions.
Pvp rewards for grinding out 75k honor to buy your now s2 items, people grinding arena games for points, there is NO world pvp wow has imploded, it's simply arena/bg/pve now a days nothing original is coming out, even the lore these days is RETARDED tauren death knights??? lol....
I mean look how half arsed bizzard have been not even a new design for season4 pieces and we are paying monthly fees
War has the money and the backing behind it to be amazing i feel, you're also forgetting that ALOT of DAOC people went to wow, and will flock back to WAR now, hopefully.

Yeah Sunz alot of the guys I played with on DAOC went to WoW.
I tried it but at the time the PvP on Wow was awful, and thats for me the main highlight in these games.
I just found wow pvp to basic and tbh abit easy, this was years ago now and Ive heard its alot better.
Ive never liked grinding levels and WAR although can be fairly slow to level at times, Public Quests are great, one the best features in the game. Your just be running around and there be aload of people killing a boss and you can just join in for XP and Loot.
The thing on DAOC if you had a caster group and knew what you was doing, you could just destroy most class's with resistance debuffs.
WAR casters do seem pretty overpowered at times (sorc/wizard) when playing a scenario there DPS was amazing, however this was beta and things will change
I just hope its not so much like DAOC in that respect.
a MMORPG is so worth your money! spend money to sit there as your muscle mass dissolves into your computer chair and your brain cells are absorbed into the lining of your skull

because WoW are now implementing proper shadows making the game actually look alot smoother and better. Gameplay will be more fun then in WO some of the RvR shit looks fucking dire to be quite honest with you,
but as shenK says this will not kill WoW, the thing that will kill WoW as shenK also said is Diablo 3. I'm hoping PvP will improve because PvP in diablo 2 was fucking dire, you could die in one hit pretty much to a hammerdin not looking forward to that and my fucking 93 frost zealot gets powed by murdys 86 barbarian.. rage.

Well first off I level it up to 30-ish
then they decided to wipe everyones char and give level 30 pre-made class's
So was a nice waste of time
although then you can really try every class out properly
I tried doing that Westy but at level 10 you really still have no idea what the class does as most of there best moves come later on etc
Its good to just make the class and then go to the trainer and see what moves they can get later levels
and to check which path is best to go, for example with the Maruader
Gift of Brutality = Best single target DPS
Gift of Savagery = damage overtimes, Rends
Monstrosity = Aoe damage
Obviously just depends if your PVE alot or PVP to level. you can just get repeatble RVR quests.

im gonna do my best to get as many sourcers / 1.6ers / wow players of a good standard on the same server. I reckon if we get everyone in a known system aka 2nd alphabetical server we`ll be able to get a good community of us on the same server.

Another wow with different pvp? You can level up through pvp alone without any pve at all. And seeing as you can only level through pve on wow i would say its quite different!

Yea I agree, I'm just not going to try ANYTHING myself in the future and just say hell the launch day hasn't gone smoothly im not having anything to do with them.
Then again I agree it's going to be a fail, but the millions of people who have pld the CLOSED beta up until completion would disagree with me and you spktr "ROLLEYES"
Every game has tweaks, wow was SHITE buggy when it first came out, the only thing is it had nothing to rival it so ran riot in the market, now its had FOUR years of game dev( whatever went into making it) and people are expecting games on launch to muster up to it.....
Want to be WAR will become the leader in this market? specially for ANYONE attuned to pvp, which lets face it wow is gearing more towards pvp on a daily basis.

your way of the mark there mate, daoc was what made good PvP in MMOs.
it really set the standard, hence why Mythic done so well and are now making WAR
If you read anything about WAR you would know they base there games on PvP and not PvE.
However I loved daoc pvp and ive been playing WAR beta for a few months and im not totally convinced, however its still better than WoW pvp ^^
