FPS Drops in 1.6

Right I don't really have a clue about computers but one thing I do know is that I shouldn't be getting drops of FPS to like 80 in CS with the specs of:
AMD X2 Dual Core 3800+
ATI Radeon X1800
3GB RAM
The only thing I could think is that it's my dogshit 400PSU? but I ain't got a clue, any ideas that anyone has is much appreciated.

try downloading latest drivers if you havent already / if not just do a simple spyware scan on your pc if still bad defrag your pc overnight or something - 400w psu should be more than good enough for that pc

u probs got like 3 sticks of 1gb with a slot free? check see how many ram slots u got on ur board. if you have 4, drop ur memory down to 2gb but in dual channel and that will increase performance.

so u got 4 slots? it differs from board 2 beard, some are slots 1 3 and 2 4 some are slot 1 2 3 4. are they colored. u could just wack 2 identicaly sized sticks and try it, freeze ur post screen and see if it says dual channel 0_o
they should be color coded if not put em in slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4..if that makes sense..
put em in such a way that theres a slot empty in between the sticks..

is your gfx card properly connected to the PSU? this happened to my old rig...i haven't tried to fix it since i got a new one...

well, there is a power lead exiting your gfx card...it should link up with a connector cable coming out of your psu...

well...hoovering with a conventional hoover...bit1, you should probably specify that if you're going to hoover inside the case, you need to use equipment that omits no static (rubber nose, etc)

Ah nah all joking aside normally on the board it's black blue black blue for the memory, take one piece out and stick one in the black and the other in the black.
It's just a cable running from the psu into the gfx card dan you can't miss it.
If all this fails reset the cmos to default settings in case you've changed something regarding ram/temperature or something you've no clue what you did.
has this been happening all week or just the last few days.
If just the last few days do a system restore.
Also the like stated above try upgrading to the newest catalyst drivers sometimes with old cards they have the old drivers.
failing that i know you probs don't have max_fps set to 101

Yea cause im not a qualified systems analyst, i probs earn more in a month than your hunger stricken family do in a year.
dual channel doesnt increase performance that much, unlikely it will raise your fps from 80 to 100, probably your cpu is bottlenecking your pc so maybe look at upgrading it. also turn graphics settings down if you've got them on anything but lowest, turn AF/AA off and im guessing your pc is AGP so it will be slower than PCI-E anyway
