Home Nations cup - Scotland win!

Posted by ukNic on the 4th of February 2008 at 10:32 AM in Gaming News    27 Comments

The second week of TheSGL Home Nations cup takes place today.

Week two: (de_cpl_mill)

[match] time= flag1=ie team1=Ireland score1=06 flag2=sx team2=Scotland score2=16 [/match]
Ireland: Tazzle, hyp, Finch, Jimmad and caesar
Scotland: CAI, buu, 101, Suffz and Sp|ke

Ireland look shaky after their loss to the Islanders last week and although ie Jimmad played well, they still looked a shade of their former selves without some of their big name faces. Scotland in contrast looked sleek and drilled as they beat the Northern Irish last week and I can't see them failing to do the same against the other inhabitants of Eire.

Ireland may manage to take a handful of rounds if they start CT, but they'll find it an uphill battle either way.

Prediction: Scotland to take this comfortably in the battle of the Celts. 16:06.

Good luck to each team.

Russian team ru St. Petersburg Islanders have announced a change to their roster. ru Demiyan "blade" Zemskiy and ru Edward "edik" Ivanov have both left the team and have been replaced by former ru x4team player ru Aleksey "KiO" Lagutin as well as ru Aleksandr "KALbI4" Gribov, known for his time in clans such as ru M19.

St. Petersburg Islanders is now:

ru Denis "diNGo" Kolomensky
ru Dmitry "HEAD" Slepchenko
ru Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov
ru Aleksandr "KALbI4" Gribov
ru Aleksey "KiO" Lagutin

Good luck.

Home Nations cup - Week 2 - de_cpl_mill

The other two matches in week two of TheSGL Home Nations cup take place today.

Week two: (de_cpl_mill)

[match] time= flag1=an team1=Islanders score1=14 flag2=eng team2=England score2=16 [/match]
Islanders: toko, Kyle, Jilo, starkey and vacman
England: cRueL, Kurt1s, AlesKi, Song and Kolobos

Both teams asserted themselves last week with wins on de_nuke to set up todays tasty fixture. The England team will probably use todays match as practice for the Clanbase Nations cup match which takes place this Wednesday against sk Slovakia, also on de_cpl_mill. I'll probably expect them to use their four uk 4Kings and uk h5 players with a fifth from their roster.

The Islanders managed to take Ireland down last week with an vacman and an Kyle both managing to reach around 2700 on the skill quotient. That said, I can't see them beating England tonight, primarily down to the experiance and teamwork of their opposition.

Prediction: 16:10 to England, although it would be less if it wasn't mill.

[match] time= flag1=wx team1=Wales score1=16 flag2=ni team2=Northern Ireland score2=12 [/match]
Wales: Mx, hsm, ry, b8z and p4k
Northern Ireland: casje, j2, eFX, wiLL and HazEh

My pick for match of the week! Both teams lost on de_nuke against the two favourites for the tournament and both will hopefully be up for scoring a victory tonight. The teams have got a selection of players who can turn it on (I don't mean mainframe either) if the game is right and hopefully we'll see that this evening.

I've been told that wx hsm should be making an appearance for this match and combined with wx Mx they'll hopefully be able to take it to a Northern Irish team that has chopped and changed in the last two weeks and has hopefully settled on a solid roster for this game.

Prediction: It'll be close and probably go the other way that I predict, but I can see Northern Ireland just taking this 16:14.

HLTV will be available here.

Good luck to each team.

Kwari to invade IG5!

Kwari to invade IG5 so you can make a killing!

In an effort to make IG5 one of the best events of the year we are pleased to announce we have teamed up with Kwari to give you another opportunity to win some cold, hard cash. For those that don’t know, Kwari is a fast-paced, totally crazy cross between UT and Quake 3 where you earn money by shooting your opponents, winning the map and unlocking jackpot keys. You purchase ammo to mutilate your opponents with and lose money by being shot. This combo makes for some frenetic game play and trust us, after being at the launch event it’s also pretty addictive!

Every player registered for IG5 will receive a special Kwari login for the event and then it’s up to you to battle it out for fame and glory. The two players that “earn” the most money during the course of the Kwari competition (1pm Saturday – 1pm Sunday) will walk away with £250 and £150 respectively. Another prize of £100 is being offered to the person who collects the most jackpots.

The rules are simple; you will get given an account balance and some ammo, hits mean money, the more money you have the better you are doing. If your account balance reaches zero you have been eliminated.

To get more information on how Kwari works head over to the Kwari site and if you wanted to get a bit of practice in beforehand they do have play-for-free arenas where you can check out all the things that could make you richer!
