With 2007 passing not long ago, I think one thing that was a big let down this year to most people was the CSPromod. With its initial release dating back to mid-October, it was bug-ridden and not much seemed to have been done in the 24 months since its publication by drax.

Fast-forward two and a half months, and an update on the progress! us Alex "chibsquad" Garfield, the executive director for the project, released a statement on their website:

"We have completed work on CSPromod Beta 1.02, which addresses a number of bugs, provides significant additions, and also tweaks several crucial gameplay elements. Closed testing took place over the weekend with very successful results. We are now finishing up some late additions and preparing to release the version publicly. Exact information will be provided soon.

CSP Beta 1.02 Release Notes:
-Added first-person damage indicators
-Fixed wall-spawn/crash bug
-Maps now have 20 spawn points per side
-Added buy equipment menu
-Added 3D headshot "gooshes"
-Rifle burst/"single-tap" spread/kick tweaked
-Grenade arc, velocity, and bounce tweaked
-Scoped movement speed tweaked
-Death notifications are no longer offset to the right on player team switches and suicides
-Death notifications no longer occur on player disconnects
-Switching to the knife after firing any weapon no longer causes an immediate "stopsound" effect
-Grenade bounce sounds added
-Fall damage sounds added
-Bomb indicator added on scoreboard (T's only)
-Time after round end extended to 5 seconds
-Shooting while defusing is no longer possible
-Mp_restartgame now occurs immediately
-Fixed AWP muzzle flash animation bug
-Fixed muzzle flash animation bug on reload for all guns
-Added auto-assign option to team selection menu
-Priming a grenade at the end of a round no longer allows it to be thrown in freezetime of the next round
-Added death notification graphic for HE grenade
-Fixed AWP zoom animation bug
-Name changes while dead are no longer possible

Thanks for your support,

Alex"

It seems that during the absence of community updates, Garfield and his team have been working on fixing and enhancing numerous issues within the game. With the 1.02 beta update release just around the corner, is this going to be the game which breaks away in 2008? Only time will tell...

wooSai alive and kicking

Posted by ukProtex on the 1st of January 2008 at 7:41 PM in Team News    13 Comments

After having some roster problems towards the end of last year the first day of 2008 will see a new squad formed under the dk wooSai banner. With a few old hands and some fresh new talent they will be aiming to put themselves on the map and compete with mTw (NoA) for the title of Danish No.1

Their new roster looks like this:
  • dk FaG
  • dk pzyclone
  • dk telli
  • dk vimo
  • dk woodi

    Good luck to them as they enter 2008 with high hopes and new dreams and especially to dk vimo who reportedly won the QTOUR competition in Denmark and was recently seen playing CSConfusedource for Copenhagen eSports.
  • eMg & x3o changes....

    Posted by ukProtex on the 2nd of January 2008 at 10:43 AM in Team News    18 Comments

    Now fully into the New Year and only a week before the KODE5 US qualifier already the wheels have started to come off for a number of US teams. us x3o is the major loser with us n0thing moving to bitter rival us eMg a week before the qualifier whilst eMg themselves drop us phobius and us lim. To complete their roster for the KODE5 qualifier they will be using former Dallas Venom player us aZn as a stand-in for the event.

    This mini shake-up leaves both teams in a state of flux as they will essentially be competing as mix teams in the qualifier and x3o still need to find a last minute replacement for their squad.

    eMg roster:

  • us n0thing
  • us evolution
  • us Che
  • us steno
  • us aZn (stand-in)

    x3o roster:

  • us goodfornothing
  • us impulsive
  • us mehLer
  • us PaTyoJoN

    Good luck to both teams.

    CMAX.gg lose CS squad

    Posted by ukNic on the 3rd of January 2008 at 5:00 PM in Team News    8 Comments

    The Finnish 1.6 squad of fn CMAX.gg have now announced they are leaving the server company. The former fn Logitech.fi team cited a lack of support from CMAX.gg as the main reason for their departure.

    fn Slaava "Twista" Rasanen had this to say:

    CMAX.gg is a game-server provider, not an organization. They can't really fulfill our needs, so this step was a necessary one.

    The team will continue to play for CMAX.gg until they find a new organization to join.

    CMAX.gg is:

    fn Konsta "kookas" Kaisla
    fn Antti "Shiri" Makinen
    fn Matti "SpikeOne" Jarvinen
    fn Tino "tihOp" Puumala
    fn Slaava "Twista" Rasanen

    Good luck.
