Posted by ukNic on the 16th of April 2007 at 10:36 AM in Gaming News    19 Comments

Over at no MYM they've released an interview with swe Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed, former swe NiP and currently of swe SK-Gaming.

Heres a sample:

MYM: How does it feel to earn your own money with gaming? And when was the first time you did?

SpawN: It feels really nice to be making money of something you enjoy doing and I'm
hoping for a bright future within professional gaming. The very first time I earned my own money from gaming was at Birdie LAN. It was my first LAN with Matrix and it was really fun! A big shoutout goes to cyphoneR, Legenden, Dracula, ScreaM and bulletproof!

It's quite a long interview weighing in at six pages but definatly worth a read if you have the time.

UKESN: LAN updates

Posted by ukNic on the 17th of April 2007 at 10:00 AM in Gaming News    5 Comments

Over at UKESN they've updated a few things concerning their LAN which is planned to take place in three months. The 1.6 tournament has been scaled down to a 16 team event and a CSConfused 16 team competition has been added.

Heres a sample from the statement:

Preliminary registrations for the event have been reset and will open again later this evening, along with payment options, including PayPal, postal order, and bank transfer. The current LAN website (www.ukesn.org/lan) will be integrated into the main UKESN site this evening, along with the announcement of additional LAN partners/sponsors.

We have roughly £1,500 to divide between the top places in the Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source tournaments. As I've said, distribution of this money is undecided and you can vote on the outcome on the right hand side of the UKESN website. We're aiming for the LAN to be community driven, and we'll be accepting as much input from you, the public, as we can manage.

Full statement and the LAN site are in the links below.
