SGL:t2 postponement.

Posted by enguzi on the 2nd of April 2007 at 1:41 PM in Gaming News    79 Comments

It is with a heavy haeart I am forced to announce the postponement of the forthcoming SGL:t2 until later in the year. There is but a single reason for this which is that my youngest daughter has been on a waiting list for an operation for eight months and hs finally recieved her date to go into hospital. Out of the fifty two weekends of the year they have obviously chosen Friday May 4th to admit her - meaning my place that weekend is with her.

Everyone who has paid up has now been refunded and my sincere apologies are extended to those who like myself and the rest of theSGL have been very much looking forward to this event. We will seek to stage the event later in the year with August/September being the most likley candidates. I'm not going to go on at any great length here, whilst I'm delighted the op is now going ahead I can't help but feel totally gutted at the timing of it.

IG4: Brighton?

Some of you may have spotted the IG4 column and whether or not to hold an event in Brighton. Basically this newpost is to outline some of the facts about the event if enough clans and players wanted to go.

Myself and uk Martyn have a personal interest in trying to push this ahead, as both of us live in Brighton and will be there helping out with the organization side, as well as to meet some of you chaps in person.

IG4: Brighton:

  • £1500 prize pot minimum with sponsors adding prizes.
  • 32 teams with groups then double elimination. No single elimination.
  • Travel lodge and Holiday Inn extremely close to the event with a 10% discount for those who stay at Holiday Inn.
  • Transportation - Gatwick airport only 35 minutes away by train, easily accessible by motorway, one hour train away from London.
  • Possibility of bootcamping on Friday/Saturday night for those who want it.
  • The date: with theSGL LAN being postponed, the date would be the weekend of the 5th and 6th of May. (bank holiday)
  • IG5 will then be in Birmingham. This event will not replace any other IG lans.

For a lucky few they'd also be the possibility of staying at my gaff if anyones too poor to actually get a room at a hotel. 16 year old chavs need not apply. (I'm a uni student so its just me and my mates)

I know the reputation Brighton has, with it being the gay capital of the UK but its really not that bad, the nightlife is fantastic with a stupid amount of bars and clubs being open till crazy times. For those who don't want to bootcamp it'd be a great weekend out basically. Plus the lovely Beach nearby is a bonus.

This post is to effectively guage response and to try and get a number of those who would attend. Serious replies only, cheers.
  • theSGL Cup Run: Monday results

Posted by enguzi on the 3rd of April 2007 at 12:56 AM in Gaming News    11 Comments

"s"The first night of this particular cup run started at eight pm this evening and ran through till around twenty to eleven and featured some both some good close games and some matches which frankly if they happened on a field of war would be considered as war crimes and the admin would no doubt have to stand trial. Possibly.

"uk" Reveal would no doubt have been one of most peoples pre night favourites to qualify at the first time of asking and they didn't disappoint as they powered past "lovely" #Anticipation (16-01), "en" frantiC (16-08). and finally on nuke "br" cLip (16-05). l o was their standout player of the night putting in three performances which saw him claim the man of the match in all of them. When you're hot - you're hot!

In the other half of the draw "en" Team Regret set about their first opponents with a purpose, "cn" miNgyun.gm fell prey first (16-02), followed by what can only be described as an epic encounter with "uk" Config-Gamers running into overtime some three times (22-20) before ending the night with a tough match up with "bi" Rush-it! who took some beating on the final map of the evening (16-12).
