SCAN - Wednesday results round up

Posted by enguzi on the 1st of March 2007 at 1:16 PM in Gaming News    6 Comments

""Group Ten brought us a row of wins for the "home" teams with "ukie" vitalsigns, "pe" openFire! and "en" noFeaR! winning 16-10, 16-6 and 16-6 respectively. With three points in the bag all three teams will be relieved to have come week one unscathed. The teams now left with zero points will possibly be a sterner test next week as they come to terms with a fruitless opening performance.

Group Eleven saw the inevitable happen as
"gay" clanONE ran out comfortable winners and the other two matches both ended 16-06 with "uk" team5 Amigos and "sgl" Lobsters on the recieveing end of the defeat. Their opponents will no doubt fancy their chances to push on and look for second - if not , first place by the time the smoke clears and the ceasefire is called in some four weeks time.

Finally onto Group Twelve where the question had been asked - would
"uk" Turtle live up to the hype? the answer was - "obviously" as they set about their opponents in the way you would expect from a team made up of such landmarks in the UK cs scene over the past years, eventually running out 16-1 winners. Wins for "uk" paramount and "uk" team-cheq in altogether closer affairs (16-12 and 16-13) brought the nights fixtures to a close.

On a different note, there are now extra awards added to the stats pages, we hope you enjoy them as much as we did coming up with the names for them....

Everyone who played tonight will find their stats on the links below and the HLTV demos are being added as they become available. See you tomorrow lunchtime with a full preview of Wednesdays matches. Anyone who wishes to add a preview of their own to that post should pm the comment to me via the website and we will get it added asap.

Praetoriani change

Posted by ukNic on the 1st of March 2007 at 1:48 PM in Team News    36 Comments

nl Praetoriani have now announced the loss of is Birgir “spike” Águstsson and the replacement of his position with nl Luc "MasterMe" Verkuil. This comes one day after the removal of is Gunnar "dyNamo" Ormslev to be replaced with nl Roy "r0y" Gerritsen.

Team manager nl Jasper "Cr1stal" Keijzer had this to say:

It is sad to see Birgir leave, but his location just doesn't suit our plans, which involves extensive bootcamping.

Praetoriani is now:

uk Marc "Mangiacapra" Mangiacapra
nl Luc "MasterMe" Verkuil
nl Dennis “muh” van Maurik
nl Roy "r0y" Gerritsen
nl Ferdi “xire” Senel

Good luck.

SCAN - Thursday preview

Posted by enguzi on the 1st of March 2007 at 3:23 PM in Gaming News    9 Comments

""Last but by no means least this week in the scan.co.uk Team NFF Tournament we bring you groups thirteen, fourteen and fifteen. It has been a stunning week of matchplay and we would like to thank all the teams who have made this first week of fixtures run so smoothly with their good attitudes and total lack of aggro.

"uk" Arcadia! will probably start as the group favourites in most peoples minds and will need to justify the faith shown in them when they meet "en" frantiC [aka 4e.gm] tonight at 8pm. "uk" x3 Gaming have already secured a default in their tie with "uk" warped! which leaves "fi" euphoria* as the likely winners of their matchnight one clash with "uk" cl_ue 0.

An impressive looking "uk" taStyhouse ~ roster will meet and equally determined "uk" coercive at nine while "en" Domination face off against "eu" Back With a Vengeance. Finally in group fourteen it looks like two teams who should be looking for first and second places come the end of the group will be taking a big step towards that end as "uk" #eSports.edge and "sx" TLR.eSports pit their wits on inferno.

Finally for this week (allowing me to go play some supreme commander for a couple of days) we have the wide open group that is fifteen. Expect to see "uk" Converge, "en" plasmodic and "uk" aliquo come out on top in their games against "uk" gotsense, "uk" formidable and "uk" #0x29a-Gaming (but what would I know - I lost all my SGLp on Team Matt last night!)

GG and hf everyone - the admin team is looking forward to a couple of days off and towards next weeks matches where the teams that didnt do it - need to, and the teams who did do it - need to do it all over again!

Word from the Arcadia camp is "Skej loves men and ASDA". This can only mean one thing, Arcadia are out to dominate with Skej driving the frag-trolley, who apparently is an ex-frag eXecutors player. Ace! However, with large steamID's and chinese flags next to their names, frantiC could provide an upset, or at the very least some entertainment! Arcadia underwent roster changes a few weeks ago with immuNe and arcane leaving, and emre and Skej joining. I'm sure they've had plenty of time to practice, so it means nothing really! Arcadia will certainly be looking to pick up a win here, and hopefully a good start to their campaign. Whilst I'm not sure if they have what it takes to beat the likes of Turtle, highfive or Virtuoso, I do think they will cause some upsets in the later rounds. Players to watch? Arcadia - Skej, cause he's polish; frantiC - oReos, because he's also a tasty biscuit. Score? 16-5 Arcadia! "uk" MARRAKOOSH
"uk" frantiC vs "uk" Arcadia!

This time we see the mighty x3 going head to head with warped! Warped! Are relatively unknown at the moment and I think they are wishing they had a different team to start this tournament off with. x3 have been around for a while now and playing at a high level where as warped! Don’t seem to be in many leagues. x3 to white wash this one. If warped! Can get pistols and start the side they want they might make it a little closer.. 16-6 x3 > "en" c0re^
"uk" x3 Gaming vs "uk" warped!

euphoria.. probably best known for their easy going style of play during matches. Although when these get serious, they can drop some serious bombs. I'm pretty sure its safe to say that next to no practise has been done by the team, but they are all mates in real life and work together brilliantly when not calling each other cock-ends! upinsmoke! on the other hand have a strong. new lineup and have the potential of really giving euphoria a game if they have put in the practise. I'm going to call this close: 16-12 to euphoria with dev1ne being the player to watch. "it" dec1

"uk" Domination vs "uk" Back With a Vengeance

So here we have what is arguably going to be the "closest" match of the night on paper between two teams who have been or at least played with each other for a fair amount of time. This should be a good match to watch a tactical battle unfold and will be down to who executes them the better. TLR are the favourites in this one with their experienced members. Their squad boasts a number of players who have experienced the top end of CS in the UK scene and with a big game player such as ExumE they surely are the favourites. However, eSports.edge have a team who know each other and have lanned together and fought as hard as they can to grind down top end teams and will no doubt do the same tonight. I don't have a great deal of knowledge on their players but if mtL is playing I expet he will be the player to watch for eSports. Don't expect this to be a whitewash.. I see it going TLR's way 16-11 with close rounds and nice clutches. "en" HudsoN

now this should be a match that ill be watching after playing gamevibe. Converge having the skilled decoy with his awp, the lucky cojones, the amazing n1b, their lineup will have control over this game. The only bad thing is that locky is from the netherlands so they are without him for the whole of the tournament. But with the return of skinner and the addition of .F4 they will go far. Got sense are a new formed team with players playing in different leagues. But will they be able to work as a team and out gun converge?. Converge to take this 23-7 player to watch: decoy "no" Converge
"uk" Converge vs "uk" gotsense

formidable has been a team a lot longer than it would seem. The same set of players has been seen through various lineups such as enz and stx. I've seen them practising and its all looking good, if they can pull off the good in-game communication which has been a trait of their playing together for so long, then i can see them taking this. Plasmodic on the other hand has had a reasonably shaky lineup, but they also have a good set of players. We've seen in the past what they can do with a bit of practise, and so hoping they've been going through their paces i'm gonna call this close: 16-12 to formidable! player to watch: zenarch. GamingORB pick up two old faces

Posted by ukNic on the 1st of March 2007 at 8:54 PM in Team News    24 Comments

The clan no GamingORB today announced the removal of no Kenneth " Doff" Granli and no Jan Petter "catche" Grashei, primarily due to a lack of decent results. This left the team with three and to bolster this they have brought in ex no Fainted player no Martin “Omen” Moskvil.

To support the team whilst they searched for a solid fifth, the management announced the return of legendry stars no Jonas "bsl" Vikan and no Lars "Naikon" Olaisen who would both fill in for any official games the team may have.

no Ulrik "Ullabulla" Berntsen had this to say:

Having them as backup players is only positive, they have both played on a high level and you can always learn something from them. I just asked bsl if he wanted to be our backup player in NCL and he said he would join if Naikon was in too. So they both joined as backup players. They are not very active but they are definiely the best backup gamers out there.

GamingORB is now:

no Magnus "cozmix" Hansen
no Håvard "Halion" Hammer
no Martin "OmeN" Moskvil
no Ulrik 'Ullabulla' Berntsen
no Jonas "bsl" Vikan (backup)
no Lars "Naikon" Olaisen (backup)

Good to see them return!
