Interview: Tentpole and azl

Posted by ukNic on the 1st of February 2007 at 10:00 AM in Gaming News    7 Comments

Over at HLTV.org they've composed interviews with swe Kristoffer "Tentpole" Nordlund and swe Max "azl" Höög. In the interviews Tentpole talks about his move to swe Begrip from swe fnatic and azl talks about making the step up from local CS to international. Heres a sample from both.

HLTV.org: You are attending shgOpen in a little over two weeks. How do you think the team is going to do?

Tentpole: I think we have a good chance beating a couple of well known teams even though we are a very new team and who knows, with some luck and a good flow to our game we might go further than anyone could expect.

HLTV.org: You're obviously one of the most internationally inexperienced players in the team, do you think you can cope with the pressure of the big matches?

azl: I've played vs good mixes/teams so yes i think I can handle it!

ED: The first Open Challenge ends

Posted by ukAkirah on the 1st of February 2007 at 2:10 PM in Gaming News    6 Comments

Well, with the arrival of the 1st of February, brings the close of the first season of the Open Challenge. It has been very tightly fought battle between some very good clans … but there can be only one winner.

I’d like to be the first to congratulate #Wonderboys on winning the first ED:CS Open Challenge in what was a pretty tight final few days. The final results stand at:

1st. Gold Trophy 1282 pts - uk #Wonderboys
2nd. Silver Trophy 1251 pts - uk cLip
3rd. Bronze Trophy 1207 pts – uk frantiC

#Wonderboys will be receiving in the next few days the following prizes, provided by Alpha Networks at http://www.alpha-networks.co.uk/

• A 13 Man server Branded to your clan
• HLTV included
• 5 BNC’s
• Clan Hosting

Again congratulations! This also brings about the start of the new Open Challenge. This will run from the 1st of February to the 31st of March with the same format as before. All current points will be reset later today and any games from now on will count towards this new season. Also all clans who are eligible from the Entry ladder will be moved up into the Open Ladder so that they can take part (inactive clans in the Open Ladder will also be removed).

Another mention has to go to clan uk headRUSH! Who managed to cram in 36 games in the months the challenge was on. This awesome amount of activity has won them:

• 5 x SteelPad S&S solo mouse mats

Kindly provided to us by http://www.steelseries.com/

Thank you all for taking part and let's make the second Open Challenge as good as the first.

"uk" ClanONE it seems have taken out a mortgage on the third place slot in this seasons SGLi and will have no intention of relenquishing it this evening on de_dust2. Due to teams above them setting a blistering place thee is no hope of catching up at this stage as they are some nine points behind second place. "ie" wink who were theSGL III champions, languish in mid table but with their self professed lack of practice and the relaxed attitude they now take that is still pretty good going and we look forward to seeing them continue for seasons to come. Hard to see past the ClanONE victory here but wink do have the habit of causing upsets (if memory serves me correctly beating tonights opponents in the latter stages of the Crucial Community Cup). Follow this match live and exclusive on TSN.

Good luck guys!!!

Changes in Germany

Posted by ukNic on the 1st of February 2007 at 7:52 PM in Team News    12 Comments

With the mass of changes in Germany over the last month, two more teams have announced changes. First the former de Team64AMD changed organization, joining up with the large computer company de Ultraforce. They've also lost 3 of their members in de Nils "bara" Waldowski, de Hannes "Hanso" Dunkel and de Thomas "uLTi" Teissl. To fill their shoes they've brought in nl Jan-Willem "bishop" Koch, de Lukas "stone" Zochowski and de Ewgenij "thex" Bosch who all played for de StarComa.

bishop had this to say:

SK-Gaming: Are there any reactions about your name, this is one of the burning questions?

bishop: Yes there are a lot of funny reactions about it, but still it is only a name and this is not really important for us. Considering we play for that company it's an honour for us..

The second change is that Hanso is joining up with de ID-Gaming to replace pl Kamil " DonKamilo" Sleczek who apparently failed to impress the management during his time at ID.

Team Ultraforce is:

nl Jan-Willem "bishop" Koch
de Oliver "HUNTi" Velevski
de Andreas "ph0s" Wicht
de Lukas "stone" Zochowski
de Ewgenij "thex" Bosch

ID-Gaming is now:

de Bodo "Bodo" Sbrzesny
de Christopher "Fragmaster" Kolla
de Hannes "Hanso" Dunkel
de Andre "nooky" Utesch
de Christian "todi" Hackmann

Good luck.
