coL announce their 2007 roster!

Posted by ukEcto on the 13th of January 2007 at 6:55 AM in Team News    52 Comments

Today the American clan us compLexity have announced their 2007 counter-strike roster, and I don't think anyone saw this coming! After releasing both us Corey "tr1p" Dodd and us Justin "sunman" Sunny just a few short days ago the world was wondering who coL.cs would find to replace the two and more to the point; who could they find that was much better? Now that question has been answered! compLexity have just announced that they have managed to pickup both us Ronald "Rambo" Kim from us 3D and swe Marcus "zet" Sundström from swe NiP! coL have released this statement on their website:

The Syndicate is thrilled to announce that we have finalized the coL.cs roster for 2007. After much anticipation and speculation, it is our great pleasure to announce two players that need no introduction. Ronald "Rambo" Kim and Marcus "zet" Sundström have joined the family and are here for one reason: to WIN and bring the coL Community more championship titles. Both Ron and Marcus have the talent, the experience, the dedication and the passion for gaming that has always defined our organization. We are extremely excited to have them on the squad and are looking forward to great things in the future.

Two questions that will however be in the minds of some people at the moment are why coL have gone for a player in zet who does not live in the USA; maybe us Jason "1" Lake the owner of compLexity feels that American counter-strike players do not meet the level reached by some of the more skilled European players? But the real question at the moment is.... Whats going to happen to NiP, and will ins be next to part ways with the organisation?

coL.cs is now:

us Danny "fRoD" Montaner
us Ronald "Rambo" Kim
us Tyler "Storm" Wood
us Matt "Warden" Dickens
swe Marcus "zet" Sundström

NiP is now:

swe Oskar "ins" Holm
swe Emil “HeatoN“ Christensen (inactive)
swe Tommy 'Potti' Ingemarsson (inactive)
swe Dennis "walle" Wallenberg (inactive)

3D is now:

us Josh " Dominator" Sievers
us Mikey "Method" So
us Dave "Moto" Geffon
ca Griffin "Shaguar" Benger
us Craig "Torbull" Levine
us Sal "Volcano" Garozzo
us Kyle "Ksharp" Miller (inactive)

CSGN: Let the games begin...

Posted by ukMartyn on the 13th of January 2007 at 4:56 PM in Gaming News    107 Comments

After a long wait and a new owner behind the CSGN, tonight finally sees the beginning of the ninth CSGN league season. With 50 teams raring to go including one of the most competitive premiership division ever seen in the UK CS scene, we are in for a real treat.

Kicking off the action this season as the CSGN tradition goes its the big boys in the CSGN: Premiership. Teams such as uk dignitas, uk TmG and uk c4u make up the division and week one sees them battle it out on the map de_train. Back once again is nl v3z who has written up some lovely predictions for us!!!

Match of the Week - Premiership

[match] time=Over flag1=uk team1=dignitas score1=16 flag2=uk team2=TmG score2=13 hltv=hltv3.csgn:27016 irc=csgn.server3 [/match]

Prediction : The first match of the evening is set to be a great one and may also have some influence on the outcome of this season. The game is also going to be a clash of several old teammates. A few months back clan leader of dignitas uk Sam ‘Rattlesnake’ Gwan decided to make a swift change in the lineup. Linked with a couple of other reasons, the addition of uk AlesKi and uk RedH has hopefully improved the team's ability to concentrate more on tactics and be more active then before. dignitas have shown to be one of UK’s best teams and probably also one with the most potential looking at the players and the organization behind them. The map de_train, a map which take a lot of time to master therefore it will be interesting if dignitas did their homework.

A great match always needs two opponents. The opposition tonight is Trademark Gamers, a team who are around for quite some time now but recently in the news regarding some player changes. Trademark Gamers are known for being extremely dedicated to, putting a lot of effort in the team aspects of the game. With the addition of uk FranKieee, who recently joined the lineup they have become certainly stronger in the frag department.

I think dignitas have the best chances to win this match; overall they seem to be the stronger team to me, although the map can certainly have an influence on the result.

I predict dignitas to take this about 16-12/13.

Players to watch : uk Rattlesnake (dignitas) uk Kurtis / Frankie (TmG)

[match] time=20:30 flag1=uk team1=c4u score1=16 flag2=ie team2=wink score2=06 hltv=hltv1.csgn:27016 irc=csgn.server1 [/match]
Prediction : A few months back we saw the reformation of the c4u team, a team with a lot of controversy in the past came back with a whole level of new energy. So far this has paid off; with some really good results they have shown they are here to compete for the number one spot and nothing else. I know that the team is putting all there energy into the upcoming scan tournament in the hope of taking home the first place prize, which will allow them to compete at LAN’s around Europe. Something the team has been looking for, for a long time.

The opponents of tonight are wink, a team who have had some great results in the past handing them several titles in online leagues. This shows they sure have the skill but at the moment they are lacking the team chemistry and activeness as far I can tell.
A practiced wink could do a lot more damage then the one we see now.

With this in mind I see c4u winning this game with great numbers and especially if they start at the CT side.

Predicted score in the range of 16-4/5 with c4u coming out on top.

Players to watch : uk wilzOOO (c4u) ie Tazzle (wink)

[match] time=20:30 flag1=uk team1=ClanONE score1=16 flag2=sx team2=UFO score2=11 hltv=hltv2.csgn:27016 irc=csgn.server2 [/match]
Prediction : ClanONE is the team here with the history, a few years back the team was one of the best in the UK getting close to 4Kings for on many occasions. Although that probably at the moment is not going to happen I have great respect for the team. The players in this team have been playing so long together and that with the great attitudes towards everyone I can say they are one of the most respected clans in the UK scene. However respect isn’t winning matches, but the ONE guys shown last week that they are getting more and more ready for this upcoming season. With a lot of practice and the team work, they may cause some upsets this season.

The team they are playing against have also been around for many years now, on and off. The old team was called Imagine and that might ring some more bells. The team is always competing in the highest leagues and playing good games every season. The team seems a bit unstable at the moment, I am not sure then who are playing for them this season. Maybe clan leader sx CAI can tell the viewers this in a comment Smile.

The both teams are equal to each other and this normally would result in close match with the score of 16-13/14 to clanONE.

Players to watch : uk Nego (ClanONE) uk Suffz (UFO)

[match] time=21:30 flag1=uk team1=eom score1=16 flag2=us team2=TEAMAMERICA score2=10 hltv=hltv1.csgn:27016 irc=csgn.server1 [/match]

Prediction : This Friday the Americans heard the news they have been promoted to the premier league of the CSGN. In what way this is fair I let you all decide but this is now a fact. TEAMAMERICA have been together for a while now just below the top teams and this might be their breakthrough to compete at the higher level. With the enthusiasm of the players and good preparation here, I see these guys possibly making an impact on the league, placing mid-table but pulling off some surprising results!

Looking to the other team I can say they were a good them when smc lead them. They were active, attending a lot of leagues and seemed to have a great passion for the game. Due to recent roster changes I can’t tell you a lot as I don’t know who is playing for them so based on this fact I can’t do a good prediction. The winner of this match will get those important 3 points in what could turn out to be a relegation battle.

I think eom will take this one 16-10

Players to watch : uk Rain (eom) uk Jedders, Blacky (TEAMAMERICA)

[match] time=21:30 flag1=uk team1=highfive score1=14 flag2=uk team2=isomer score2=16 hltv=hltv2.csgn:27016 irc=csgn.server2 [/match]
Prediction : Last match of the night is going to be a good one as well.

The highfive team has earned respect for being a good team and a contender at the top in online and offline events for some years. How CSGN is going to pan out for them this year I am not sure. The team is still one of the friendliest around and is competing in most of the competitions going at the moment.

The opponent of the night is a known one as well, with a good run in the CSGN cup they pulled a 3rd place out of the bag they might be here to cause the upsets. The team with a big roster of well known names is looking good at the moment and therefore I see them as slight favorite to win the match.

I predict a score in the like of 16-12/13 to isomer.

Players to watch: uk cRuel (highfive) uk Mikky (isomer)

LiN and Ksharp join 3D as they turn to CSS

Posted by ukMartyn on the 14th of January 2007 at 11:35 AM in Team News    39 Comments

In an expected move from top American team us 3D yesterday it was announced that they would be dropping Counter-Strike 1.6 and moving over to Counter-Strike: Source leading to the departure of ca Griffin 'shaGuar' Benger and us Josh ' Dominator' Sievers. 3D join us zEx, us United5 and us Pandemic who announced they would be focusing on source yesterday. Team 3D have already made the headlines in the last few days with long term member us Ronald 'Rambo' Kim parting ways with the team to join American rivals us compLexity.

With shaGuar and Dominator out of the line-up three players were needed to fill the voids left by the two. 3D have so far announced two of these players and they come in the shape of ca Jimmy 'LiN' Lin and returning 3D player us Kyle 'Ksharp' Miller. Both players have proven themselves in the Source scene in America and many are already saying this will be the ultimate American CSS team.

The fifth player will be announced in due course with 3D announcing they are still searching for the right player to fill the void. Team manager us Craig Levine had this say on the matter...

With Ronald’s departure we also wish the best to Josh Sievers and Griffin 'shaGuar' Benger. As the competitive gaming scene develops and evolves, we, as a team, need to adapt to the changes as well. We need to re-create a culture to propagate success and we believe that to do so we need to create a more positive team environment.

We are currently interviewing and trying out candidates to complete our lineup and over the next few weeks we will be scrimming, pugging, and competing with several players. I’m sure you’ll often see one of our names under the ESEA Featured Source Servers at http://www.esportsea.com as we hone our skills for what looks to be the biggest year in e-sports history.

Team 3D:

us Kyle 'Ksharp' Miller
ca Jimmy 'LiN' Lin
us Mikey 'method' So
us Sal 'Volcano' Garrozo
us Dave 'Moto' Geffon (coach)

mTw announce new lineup!

Posted by ukNic on the 14th of January 2007 at 9:37 PM in Team News    10 Comments

With many of the other Germans clans announcing new lineups it was enivitable that de mTw would do the same. mTw lost de Tim "silver" Hochgrebe and de Manuel "Tixo" Makohl to de mousesports earlier in the year and decided to completely revamp their lineup. Today they announce their new team.

Taking ex de ID-Gaming members de Bastian "b4d" Gaffron and de Christoph "chrizzo" Krämer, as well as ex de Team64.AMD players de Nils "bara" Waldowski and at Thomas "uLTi" Teissl and then finally adding ex at n!faculty member at Michael "PapsT" Schmidt the team create their new lineup. The only player that remains from the previous lineup is de Mac-Claen "macman" Tóth who will remain as the backup player.

mTw is now:

de Bastian "b4d" Gaffron
de Nils "bara" Waldowski
de Christoph "chrizzo" Krämer
at Michael "PapsT" Schmid
at Thomas "uLTi" Teissl
de Mac-Claen "macman" Tóth (backup)

Good luck!
