theSGLVI kicks off tonight

Posted by enguzi on the 12th of November 2006 at 10:04 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

""After a wait that wasn't funny any more and with a slew of last minute team changes we are totally made up to finally get to match night one of theSGLVI "The shape of things to come". This season is brought to you with many new associates alongside our existing supporters and sponsors.

All matches will be played as ever on the phenomenal Dustworld servers we have been tweaking and fine tuning throughout the series of pre season events we have been running. f0liage has narrowly lost a battle with time itself and the new SGLAc variant will be released asap - not there is anything wrong with the old one of course. The chnages will not be noticed by ninety nine percent of you. The other one percent better clean out that machine right now and make sure it's totally cheat free however as you're going to find yourself highly embarrassed - and soon. Enough said there I feel.

As you have seen pre-season Team Sportscast Network have been featuring theSGL heavily and this si set to continue throughout the league season. We look forward to many entertaining broadcasts over the coming weeks. A new addition to the season is Fragbet who will be hosting betting on Dustworld SGLi matches as well as their own "fake money" betting tournament with a 2500 Euro first prize. Matches featuring betting will be indicated with an icon in the fixtures list on the front page (such as below). Do not forget you can also use your insider knowledge of the teams to fill your account with SGLp's via the match details link.

Further coverage takes the form of our friends at HLTV.org who as ever will be supplyin ghte proxies for you to watch live, NIP-Gaming.com and H2k-gaming.com will provide a news outlet to show the Europeans what the Uk CS scene is up to, and our buddies at UKCounterTerrorist.com will be featurung news and previews of all the matches taking place in theSGLVI. For all the news coverage you can handle look to your right in the "news partners" box.

All in all it is shaping up to be one hell of a season and one that is getting more attentions to detail and care of duty than ever before. It is our hope that this season will match the standards that we have set and excee your expectations. This is why we have dubbed theSGLVI : "The shape of things to come". On with the show...

""

Finally as is the tradition within theSGL on the opening fixtures of a new season we invite the teams involved to " just 'ave it." Now, lets get on with the killing.

Interview: zonic

Posted by ukNic on the 12th of November 2006 at 9:28 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Over at MeetYourMakers they've composed an interview with dk Danny "zonic" Sørensen from dk NoA. In the interview he talks about his personal life, Denmark, as well as about his move to NoA.

Heres a snippet:

MYM: When you moved to NoA you said that you would be learning Swedish to help with the team’s communication. During the first few weeks/months did this "language barrier" create any problems?

zonic: Yeah a lot actually, however mixed Norwegian and Danish, and all of us were actually surprised over how easy it is. I really don’t see a problem with Norwegian, Danish and Swedish people playing together, it takes like 2 months, then you understand everything in game, which is the most important thing.

Quite a nice interview and worth a read.

SteelSound expands!

Posted by ukMartyn on the 13th of November 2006 at 3:16 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

SteelSeries made a suprising annoucement this morning with the release of two new headsets entering their growing range which now features three head-sets.

Steelseries are a leading manufacturer of innovative professional gaming gear, today announced two new additions to the SteelSound line of professional gaming headsets. The two new headsets named SteelSound 3H and SteelSound 4H, have been developed, tested and approved in cooperation with leading professional gamers.

The two new products are the spiritual successors to the award-winning SteelSound 5H v2, one of the most popular gaming headsets on the planet. Where the SteelSound 5H v2 is targeted at FPS-gamers and optimized for in-game sound frequencies found in Counter-Strike and other popular First Person Shooters, the two new headsets have been optimized for a more all-round gaming experience. SteelSound 4H has been optimized for a multitude of game defining acoustics found in popular FPS and RTS games, while SteelSound 3H has been designed to enhance games that combine events and background music.

Both headsets feature the trademark SteelSound retractable microphone system. The retractable microphone is practically invisible when not in use and features a microphone boom covered in high quality transparent plastic to ensure long-lasting durability. The headsets are priced very aggressively and offer aspiring competitive gamers a great entry point into the world of professional gaming gear.

"Just like you can buy good tennis racquets at a number of different price points, you should be able to buy professional gaming gear at different price points," says dk Kim Rom, Head of PR & Communications at SteelSeries. "With SteelSound 4H and SteelSound 3H we are opening up a new world of audio for gamers who have never experienced how much difference a true gaming headset makes for in-game performance and enjoyment."

"I was positively surprised when I first tested the SteelSound 4H headset. It was surprisingly comfortable and everything sounded crystal clear. It was easy to pinpoint the locations of my opponents and team mates," says swe Emil 'Heaton' Christensen, one of the most accomplished professional gamers in the world. "A good headset should allow the player to fully trust his senses as it is just as important to hear your opponents as it is to see them. SteelSound 4H offers that control."

During December expect a review over here at UKCT. The cost of the headsets will be around £25 (SteelSound 3H) and £34(SteelSound 4H). Both headsets will be available in December at steelseries.com and hopefully in the UKCT shop as well! Wink
