Just to sum up all the happenings on the column board, I have decided to put together a post to sum all the counties IRC channels and the players taking part for each county. Should you be a member of the team please can you message me on the site stating the IRC channel for the team and the team that is most likely to be playing? This is just to give the rest of the users a general overview and help people find there county channel.

ESL County Championship

Posted by engESL|Mike on the 5th of March 2006 at 5:12 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Due to the amount of non-ESL news posts related to our current County Championship preparations we have decided to step forward and publish an official list of all the ESL County teams we currently have registered on the ESL Site along with some minor details of the Championship status and format.

Firstly, big congratulations must go out to all the players who have successfully generated their County teams on the ESL site and managed to get their teams arranged and semi-sorted in such a small amount of time. The ECC has received an amazing response from the community and we are sure we can provide a smooth, well run tournament to mirror that interest within the United Kingdom.

Without delaying any further, below you will find our current list of ESL Counties that have been generated by the players to participate in the ECC.

Nottinghamshire

Surrey

Berkshire

Hampshire

Cheshire

Norfolk

Hertfordshire

Tyne and wear

Dorset

Aberdeenshire

West Midlands

Kent

lanarkshire

essex

cumbria

Devon

Buckinghamshire

The East/Midlothian

Sussex

Somerset

Lancashire

South Wales

Cornwall

Wiltshire

Lincolnshire

Greater Manchester

Renfrewshire

Middlesex

- Middlesex

- London

Yorkshire

- North Yorkshire

- South Yorkshire

We can only stress so much that IT IS still possible to create a team for your County and signup to the ECC.

On Monday, the ESL will be generating the tournament which will enable teams with 5+ players registered to their Counties to officially signup to the Championship. If your team does not currently have a minimum of 5 player, your time is running out so be quick before you lose the chance to take part in the competition.

All being well, we are looking for a minimum of 32 Teams so we can generate a group based tournament followed by the top 2 Counties going into a Playoff situation. Of course, this will be changed and edited depending on the final numbers entered into the Competition.

ENC: Counter-Strike Announced

Posted by engESL|Mike on the 5th of March 2006 at 5:24 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

As promised yesterday, the ESL is announcing the first game of the 2006 European Nations Championship today. This game being a part of the ENC 2006 probably isn't that big of a surprise.

It has been the biggest e-sports game for years now and has been part of all big gaming events over the last years. The game is of course:

Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike has been a part of the European Nations Championship for two years already. Europe's first champion in 2004 was team Sweden, which convincingly beat the Austrian national team in the grand final 16:4. The third place of the ENC 2004 went to Germany, with Finland coming in as unlucky fourth.

The results of the European Nations Championship 2005 were those of 2004 turned arround with one exception: team Sweden didn't participate, leaving the window wide open for other aspiring esports nations. In the end it was 2004's third Germany, who came out on top of the ranking ahead of the surprisingly strong Bulgarians and 2004's finalist Austria. The fourth place in 2005 went to a largely improved France - France didn't make it out of the group stage in 2004.

The total prize money for Counter-Strike is € 30,000.
