Begrip from 5 to 3 to 2 left.

After the recent loss of both Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Kristoffer "Tentpole" Nordlund a few weeks ago to the fnatic organisation, the Begrip Gaming organisation have now announced the departure of another one of their Swedish Counter-Strike players - Jonas "Calippo" Nilsson.

Calippo was apparently offered to re-sign with the Swedish powerhouse, but had refused the offer, and has thus departed from the team. He has said that he will not be leaving the Counter-Strike scene completely - and with a lot of other top Swedish players currently clanless, he could quite easily find a new team to join.

The current line-up for Begrip Sweden is now as follows:

swe Fredrik 'Iskall' Persson
swe Robert ;Robban' Dahlström

What happened with these last two players is not known yet, begrip a team that has'nt attended lots of tournaments last year might close after this flee of players. However there are a lot of free agents out there so it's not that hard to find players.

Optren reaches beta 0.5

Posted by ukAnisty on the 4th of February 2006 at 12:52 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Optren gaming search has had a facelift and major under the hood changes.

It now features compiled news from rss feeds on pc gaming and technology which are included in the normal search results meaning their will always be an up to date story available.

Searches no longer even requires the page to be refreshed thanks to new AJAX scripting and have been optimised to appear more quickly and bring more relevant search results. This has been extensively tested on IE 6/7 and FireFox.

The first 'Gaming Dictionary' has been compiled from websites cached in the Optren index. A good first dictionary search is rofl (or is that roffle?) for you to get the idea.

Coming in the next build we're looking to see the 'store' component come to life - allowing you to store cached web pages and news stories in your user account for all time as a snapshot, or as a link for your friends.

As always we welcome bug hunters and continually thirst for more servers, you can get in contact at weneedhelp@optren.com.

Fade 2 Black

Posted by ukmuffin on the 5th of February 2006 at 6:44 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Recently Spetznaz_1 produced an article highlighting the issue of ghosting in online play. The article has instigated much discussion around the world, even appearing on the gotfrag website. In the last day a useful chap from Australia has produced a fix to the problems highlighted in the article, creating his very own fade to black 2 in the form of an AMX script. You can download the script and code to install or use at your leisure.

Whether this script will make it into the numerous online leagues remains to be seen, but it looks like it could be a particularly useful feature. Could spetz be the UK’s answer to shaquar?
