WCG UK LAN Qualifier Info

Posted by scojoltbigfoot on the 2nd of October 2005 at 12:56 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Sunday night sees the first spots at the UK Final for this year's WorldCyberGames being decided with the culmination of the 1.6 and Source Online tournaments. However, with a combined entry of over 60 teams the majority of sides will miss out and if your team is in that position then fear not because there is always a second chance in the shape of the LAN Qualifiers that are beng held at the Starbytes gaming centre in Southampton later this month.

First up is the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament, taking place on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October with some Xbox competitions running over the same days that 1.6 players will have free entry to should they so wish. The following weekend (15th & 16th) Source takes centre-stage alongside the other PC titles such as WC3, BW, FIFA etc.

Both Counter-Strike competitions feature a £500 prize fund (£400 for winners, £100 for runners-up) with Jolt Clan Servers also up for grabs, additional prize sponsorship hopefully to be announced in the coming days. Of course the winners of each competition also earn one of the much-coveted berths at the UK final where they will battle it out against 3 other sides for the chance to get that free trip to Singapore to take a shot world's best Source teams (or 1.6 teams as seems to be the case where most countries are concerned).

Admission price is £30 per player for CS 1.6 / Source, £10 per player for the non-CS games.

CSGN Div 4 (Week 3)

Posted by scoSilver on the 2nd of October 2005 at 3:45 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

From [csgn]:
uk Counter-Strike Elite aren't really having a good season, which again isn't really news to anyone. They are making the effort though and they're going about it in a nice manner which is what we like to see. uk TEAMAMERICA on the other hand are looking great. They picked up a really tight win against noFear to go with their Week 1 win against aJ. While I wouldn't call them divisions favourites just yet, it's only gonna take 1 or 2 "fuck yeahs!".

Theuk UKCM were unlucky last week when they only managed a draw with iCandy. Rumours are it might not be a coincedence that this happened while the Anticheat was down. There shouldn't be any such problems this week for UKCM though as they take on uk adrenaline Junkies. aJ aren't winless at the moment, managing to win what may be their match of the season against CSE. I think it'll take more than adrenaline tonight to get them a win against UKCM but I'll wait for them to prove me wrong.

The everpresent uk Disposable Heroes are also sitting on their everpresent 100% loss record. Going on past seasons, they'll manage to get 1 win at some point but I don't think it's gonna be tonight. uk noFear look to be a good team, and they were unlucky not to be undefeated after a really tight game with TEAMAMERICA last week. Anyone who has fear going into a match with Disposable Heroes can't be too good (unless you're scared of bsf, anyone would be!)

Now we're moving onto the real good matchups in my opinion, firstly ie iCandy will be taking on void.gaming. iCandy, as I said, picked up a draw last week against UKCM, and going on the situation and members of their clans past history there might be something going on! Anticheat is up tonight though so there won't be any rumours of that type again hopefully! uk void.gaming have changed their lineup a few times in the last week or so, but are back to normal now. We won't be ticking any void boxes on their league place just yet and I'm definitely interested to see how they do tonight. Heknom's low scoring games are becoming the stuff of legend so look out for the slayer tonight (probably T side!).

Finally we come to what I think will be the match of the night, and possibly might even decide who's going to win the division. uk LicK have had their problems in the past, but they seem to be overcoming them this season. Their performances in their first few games have impressed many people, and under Hanley they really seem to be bringing things together. They haven't faced a real challenge yet though which hopefully uk Le Soleil Noir can provide tonight. They're another undefeated team, and another who got a blowout against those poor Disposable Heroes. This is definitely gonna be a thriller so stay tuned to the HLTV later on! Oh, and remember that LicKing a fire isn't the best way to put it out Wink

*- uk Lick recieve default over uk LSN due to LSN not being able to field a full team.

From CSGN|Hawkins:
And now for the slightly less important part of my night, the CSGN Match of the Night! Wink It's gotta be Le Soleil Noir against those lolly LicKers; two undefeated teams going head to head. The map is Fire which in my opinion makes it all the more important to have practiced hard. I'd say LicK probably have the edge but I'm usually wrong. To put some things straight, I blackmailed Hanley into telling me some stuff: "The map scares me. We've only played 2 PCWs but we beat void, who in the world of Heknom "had it on lock". I know LSN are a quality team and it's gonna be a hard game. I'll be happy with a 16-14 win. I don't think it's gonna come down to who has the best tactics, it's gonna be whoever outaims the other who comes out with the W." When I asked him to predict Heknom's score for the night, here's what he said: "heknom vs i-Candy , well the last official we played against i-Candy we beat them 27-3 so I think Heknom has a chance of breaking his record of 3 kills." He also asked me to give you all the following link for your viewing pleasure: http://www.team-lick.co.uk/heknom.jpg. There you have it folks!

SoGamed World Rankings - CS

Posted by scoSilver on the 2nd of October 2005 at 11:32 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

From Sogamed:
SoGamed is proud to announce its very own rankings for the world's Counter-Strike scene!

The purpose of these rankings is not to determine which team is the best at a given moment, but to show which teams have performed the best during the year at different events. The rankings are based on results in Counter-Strike tournaments for the last 12 months and will be kept updated once per month by our ranking-master Saint-Clair.

Teams are rewarded points depending of their standings in each tournament and the type of tournament it is. Tournaments are divided into 3 different categories, depending on cash prize, international attendance and the type of tournament (qualifier, invitational, open etc.).
