CSGN to announce season 7 teams tonight

Posted by ukneh0e on the 6th of September 2005 at 1:12 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Top uk UK league [csgn] is due to announce the teams for its seventh season tonight, at 10pm. We'll have the full list as soon as it becomes public - here's the statement from their site:

We like to keep you up to date with what's going on so we'd like to let you know that the teams for CSGN Season 7 are going to be announced tonight! We're currently assigning clans to divisions and Obsidian will soon be able to release the final teamlist.

For the teams who do get in, the season will start next Monday (12th September) and the map will be Dust2. The rest of the season is currently down to follow the same format as the previous few seasons (Inferno, Fire, Nuke, Prodigy, Train, Cbble, Mill) with the week 9 map being Inferno. We're interested in implementing new maps but we don't want to do so in the final week of the season, so for now this is the final maplist. Any feedback in this is welcomed in the comments. The other change to this season is instead of matches being played at 8pm and 9pm, they'll now be spread across 9pm and 10pm. This is due to a large number of people being unable to make the 8pm matches.

CPL announce Milan World Tour Stop

Posted by ukenuex on the 6th of September 2005 at 8:47 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

After the cancellation of their de German World Tour Stop, the [cpl] have finally announced the replacement: to be held in Milan, it Italy - to be held from October 20th-23rd. How many uk UK teams make the journey - if any - remains to be seen. Here's their announcement:

The Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) is proud to announce that it has selected the city of Milan, Italy to replace the previously canceled German stop of the CPL World Tour.

The Italy World Tour stop will take place Thursday, October 20 through Sunday, October 23 during the Smau 2005 convention at the Milan Fair Portello halls. For more information on Smau 2005 visit this site.

More information on the new CPL World Tour stop in Milan, Italy will be announced soon.

The stop is due to be hosted by Smau, an Italian organisation - who had this to say:

By all means, the exhibition devoted to convergence. The converge of technologies, networks and services. In an area full of exciting events and initiatives, companies can demonstrate the amazing performance that modern technology can now offer thanks to the interaction between different platforms: PCs, telephones, TVs and cameras .

In a special area which will occupy halls 15/1, 16/1 and 16/2 , Smau e-Life will present all the latest products and services which are revolutionizing the way we experience our homes, our cars and our free time.

So the event looks promising - although it Italy is not reputed for producing eSport talents, perhaps this is the time that some may be unearthed?

This leaves the final stops on the list as below:

  • it Milan (20th-23rd Oct)
  • cl Santiago (28th-30th Oct)

The stop in cn Beijing (13-16th Oct) looks likely to be confirmed as cancelled in the coming days.
