CS:Source Comments

Posted by ukMango^ on the 12th of August 2004 at 3:10 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Over at the SteamPowered Forums some community members have been commenting on the Counter-StrikeConfusedource beta that is currently doing available for certain LAN (Local Area Network) centers. Heres a snippet:

No boosting. When you jump on someones head you slide off. If you stay next to a wall you can get on someones head but neither of you can jump.

CS:Source Impressions

Posted by ukMango^ on the 15th of August 2004 at 12:28 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

At the G2XS website, Shekky has written an article containing his impressions and opinions on the Counter-StrikeConfusedource beta, this is the most in-depth and entertaining article I have read on the matter, so here I suggest, nay, command you to read this if you haven't already played this. As always, here's a snippet:

The game play is another area where Valve has remained faithful although there are still changes. It appeared to me the game is a smidgen slower than 1.6, and although I was adjusting to the new recoil of the guns, it felt like the AK47, MP5 and M4A1 had slightly more recoil than 1.6 when crouched. Running whilst shooting definitely had more pronounced recoil effects than 1.6, with the crosshair veering upwards much faster. The Glock, USP and Desert Eagle felt the same as their 1.6 counterparts.

CS:Source Impressions (again) & VALVe Q&A

Posted by ukMango^ on the 15th of August 2004 at 1:45 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

As any regular reader of UKCT will know, there have been rather a lot of Counter-StrikeConfusedource impression posts, this is because I haven't played it and it's the only way I can satisfy my unearthly need to play this game, anyway, on with the show!

Planethalflife have been busy little houndeyes over the past few weeks and have produced a Counter-StrikeConfusedource playtest article you can read it HERE

They've also conducted a Question and Answer session with VALVe CEO Scott Lynch, this is my favourite of the two, heres a snippet:

Q: Will the new level design allow Terrain Deformation, or will it be be more like Half-Life 1 (where you had to set a breakable spot in Hammer)?

A: Half-Life 2 will not have any Terrain Deformation, but it can be enabled or used in mods. On a side note, Team Fortress 2 will have Terrain Deformation.

UKT LAN - 4K Win vs TAG

Posted by ukMango^ on the 16th of August 2004 at 12:06 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Just now UK No.1 4Kings have beaten Team AMD Gamer at the UKTerrorist LAN Finals. This was a extremely close game and involved 4K bringing the game back from a negative score on de_train. Congratulations are in order to [ukt] for a red-hot tournament and to TSN for casting for a mammoth 16 hours straight.

You can find all the information over at [ukt] and demos are available HERE.
