Electronic Sports Ltd
Some of the [ukt] LAN staff members, notably Myers and Teppum, have formed a company that will present all their future LAN events. It looks to be a positive step forward for e-sports in the UK, here's the science bit:
4th August 2004 – Today a year of planning comes to fruition with the launch of Electronic Sports Ltd. Catalyzing prospects and opportunities within this generation’s most popular leisure activity; Electronic Sports Ltd is co-founded by Morgan Withers, Paul Shearing and Richard Millington who draw upon experience from numerous successful e-Sports initiatives over the past 3 years. Beginning in August 04 Electronic Sports Ltd will launch two subsidiary brands, the UK Electronic Sports Association (UKESA) and UKESA Shop.
UK Electronic Sports Association
Formed by the core staff behind the UK’s most popular Counter-Strike LAN series, UKT LAN Championships (Feb 03 – Aug 04), the UK Electronic Sports Association assembles experienced organisers from a variety of PC games dedicated to providing a stable yet progressive environment in which gamers can compete.
Instead of being limited to Counter-Strike the organisation will branch out into other popular titles such as Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament 2004, Painkiller and Warcraft 3. The UK Electronic Sports Association is presently finalising details for the 2004 Summer – Winter season which will have over £7,500 worth of prizes up for grabs. Expect more information regarding these events over the coming weeks.
UKESA Shop
As e-Sports becomes evermore competitive, gamers constantly seek out new products to give them an edge over the opposition. To accommodate this audience, the UKESA Shop will retail specialist e-Sports equipment within the UK. These items will initially include QPad’s and HyperGlides.
