Cheating Death v4.23.1

Posted by ukMat on the 2nd of August 2004 at 10:25 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

The popular anti-cheat made by the crew over at United Admins has been updated once again, this time there are some major changes in how CD and Steam work together.

A new version of Cheating-Death has been released which contains several new detection and blocking methods as well as a new system for handling Steam updates. This means that from now on Cheating-Death will not have to update every time Steam does. Furthermore C-D will fail more gracefully, allowing most users to continue using C-D until an update is released.

WCG annonuce 2005 host

Posted by ukMat on the 3rd of August 2004 at 5:19 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

The World Cyber Games association or WCG for short has publicly announced the venue for their 2005 event. Singapore will be host to hundreds of gamers from across the globe where they will face off again`st each other in a variety of games including Counter-Strike, UT, Halo and Warcraft III for substancial amounts of money. Official press statement from WCG:

While other nominee cities were comparable to Singapore to hold the event in their abilities to host the event, Singapore offered its SICEC (Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre), an international conference & exhibition hall which can admit large-scale events and a huge quantity of spectators. Other factors such as accessibility from the athlete`s village to the SICEC, cultural and shopping facilities, and security also have positive impact on its selection. Another score winner was its vast and advanced IT infrastructure as a business hub in the Asian region. Finally, Singapore was chosen thanks to the fact that, since it’s an international education city, it can be used as a point of strategic importance to highlight positive effects of games and to position the WCG as an educational and culture games event with youths.

CS:Source Playtest Impression

Posted by ukMango^ on the 3rd of August 2004 at 6:10 PM in Gaming News    0 Comments

A couple of articles detailing impressions of the Counter-StikeConfusedource playtest at G4's G-Phoria, niether of these articles offer the deep and considered preview that many gamers are waiting for, but they do offer insight for those of us that have not closely followed every scrap of meat that VALVe have thrown to the community, and even if you are a dogged disciple of VALVe press releases, these are worthwhile reading anyway, even just to kill time.

Gamespot offers their hands-on report HERE and their previous preview can be found by clicking HERE it also includes a nifty streamed video.
