Steam & CS Updates
A new [steam] update has been released overnight. This does not effect the [steam] client itself, but rather the general game engine (for all
Half-Life and [steam] based games, including
CS) and for
CS: Condition Zero. The changelog and update message can be seen below:
"An update to Counter-Strike Condition Zero and a few game engine changes have just been released on Steam. When you launch any game, you'll receive this update automatically. Condition Zero dedicated servers will need to restart to receive the update.
COUNTER-STRIKE: CONDITION ZERO
- Fixed "bartime" (used by bomb defusal progress bar) being sent by the server in the wrong format
GAME ENGINE (all Steam games)
- Added a command line option ( "-noaafonts" ) to disable anti-aliasing on fonts
- Replace "#" with " " if it is the first character in a player's in-game name
- Resolved a graphics-related error in Day of Defeat & Condition Zero Deleted Scenes

CS Pro-Mode

UKTerrorist
DoZ has written a column concerning the idea of a professional mode of play for
Counter-Strike. We all know public and clan play are two different beasts and should be treated as such,
DoZ presents a very persuasive argument and invites people to comment and discuss the subject. Here's a quote from the author:
"Ultimately, the only way any official change will come about is by public support being behind the idea, not the specifics. If you feel that you would like to see a return to a less random and faster paced counterstrike, you're encouraged to spread the word about the article or paste it on to other sites and see what can be achieved."
A well written column that addresses a lot of the aspects of CS that are seen as problems by the community. Read it for yourself
here.
