ValveTorrent?

Over at
ShackNews its been said that
Valve have hired the creator of
BitTorrent to help them in the task of delivering
HL2/CS:CZ. As you could imagine the servers are patchy enough at the moment let alone 100,000 people trying to download a 1gig+ game through
Steam at the same time. Wether or not the plans are to incoperate
BitTorrent technology into
Steam or actually use a
BitTorrent type program remains to be seen, non-the-less an interesting combo.
Valentine's Day 2-part News

On a day usually quiet in the gaming scene, as gamer's everywhere prepare for and go out with their evening's dates (or in most cases probably don't), there has been little activity. A couple news pieces have been floating around, though not significant to everyone.
Firstly, for those of you with ATI graphics cards, this one could be particularly useful: ATI have updated their Catalyst drivers for their range of video cards - including changes specific to Half-Life and Counter-Strike.
The changes specific to HL/CS, as detailed in their changelog, are as follows:
- Returning to the main menu in the game Counter-Strike no longer results in the game's refresh rate reverting back to 60Hz when resuming game play.
- The game Half-Life is now displayed properly under Windows XP when the game resolution is set to either 320x240 or 400x300.
Here are the driver updates.
Secondly, those of you with knowledge of the
Dutch CS scene will know about
mysod.nl - a clan that recently beat
TAG and a prominent side in the Dutch scene. They were formed mostly of ex
Re-Flex members - a team that dominated the Dutch scene and competed in last years ESWC.
Well
Re-Flex have now reformed, with the following line-up:
a1ex - eve - Sept - redstar - vorton
Looking very promising indeed, best of luck to them.

A 3rd piece of news for all you unlucky gamer's staying in tonight, and this one provides a little more of a read.
Over at
E-Sports EA,
Thorin has already interviewed

3D|Ksharp,

NoA|Method,

mibr|Kiko, and

NoA|ShaGuar this month.
Following this trend of good work, he has now interviewed

Rival|Ph33r. Talking about Ph33r's rise in the international CS scene, his teams, the Rival-vs-iFate CXG encounter, and most notably Ph33r's clutch play, famous from the Summer 2003 CPL, the interview makes 10 minutes well spent.
Regarding "one of the most sought-after commodities in the competitive scene", 'clutch' play (triumphing against the odds and under pressure, eg: 1vs4), Ph33r has this to say:
"Well basically to be clutch, you really gotta have expierience within the game and for that you have to play the game frequently. I think that's one of the main problems with people playing CS today, they want to get good so fast but don't even realize the dedication and how much time it takes to get better."
To read the rest of the interview,
look no further.

Last night the topic in UK/Swe hybrid clan
Noneed's IRC channel officially announced their new sponsorship deal with
HiGhland Online. After previous unsuccessful sponsorings of all-Swedish clans, the Scandinavian internet-cafe company has turned it's attentions to
Noneed, who can currently be seen competing online in the
ClanBase CS Challenge.
