A few Snippets

Steam:

Greg Coomer: "A few small updates to Steam games are being released this week. These updates only affect players who run Steam games in languages other than English. Later today, an update will be released for non-English versions of Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. No changes to the games are included, this is a maintenance release only".

Cheating Death:

Cheating-Death finally received an update to make it compatible with STEAM again. The UA crew apologises for the delay but their lead coder is taking a break and it seems that C++ coders are hard to find. If you want to help out the community with your C++ skills email bwagner@unitedadmins.com and apply. Download the new CD version here

Skin Pack:

The guys at PunkAssFraggers have released a new skin pack for Counter-Strike 1.6. The pack named "PAF CS Ultimate Splash Pack V 4.0 for CS 1.6 ONLY" replaces over 400 files with all new weapons skins, player skins and other stuff. Grab the pack over here. Remember to backup your old stuff first, before installing.

Clan Wars Movie

Posted by ukMat on the 2nd of January 2004 at 12:29 AM in Gaming News    0 Comments

Just saw over at CSCentral they've got the low down on The_Family_God's upcoming movie production, Clanwars. The_Family_God hit the headlines after the release of the infamous Militia movies. Here's a snippet of what the interview revealed:

Sebastian: The movie is being filmed within the Counter-Strike engine, can we expect any cool stuff we normally cannot do within the game? If yes tell us what!

Solid Snake 88: I'd love to reveal everything, but.... I can't. So you'll just have to wait and see. One thing I will say is, I've already stated that this movie will include bigger and better effects than even what was in Militia 2, and that movie had its share of treats. So if you want something new and cool, you will enjoy ClanWars very much.

Sushi: We've been playing CS for years, so we know a good deal about the Half-Life engine. There's life in her yet, and we've pushed it to the limit. Some of our techniques involve simply tweaking the engine itself through simple console commands that no one else seems to know about, others involve using admin mod to shorten time spent filming, and other things are being done that we can't reveal yet but we're hoping will blow everyone away once the film is released.

After watching and thoroughly enjoying the militia movies i'll be sure to check this one out also. Head on over here to checkout the interview in full.

The Return of .5o

Posted by ukMat on the 2nd of January 2004 at 3:10 PM in Team News    0 Comments

Clan .5o who folded a few months ago are making a comeback. Clan .5o who boast an impressive lineup is run by the previous clan leader Landen. I caught up with Landen and here's what he had to say about .5o's return.

This is the 2nd generation of .5o, the first generation was an old clan that was first created by a group of mates from Bristol. After we recruited some outsiders we went on to perform well and became very respected. That team produced some fine players who went on to play CS with big names like fcc, qtp and Kaizen, these were Landen, Smittins, Blade and Savage. So as you can imagine the new .5o has a lot to live upto, but im pleased with the new lineup and how we're performing at the moment. I think this could be the best .5o yet.

At the moment we're just planning to play as many PCWs as possible and enter some online leagues and tournaments. We've got a lot of work to do before we're ready perform well at decent lans but thats our goal. Once we have our server and can practice tactics we should start to improve more

.5o lineup: Landen | Dave | Megaman | Donface | Chicko

There's no clan website up at the moment but it's in production, you can find clan .5o on Quakenet in #clan5o.

Finally .5o are looking for one UK player to fit into their squad as Chicko is from Germany and cant make every LAN event. So if you think you could fit the bill why not pop into .5o IRC and give Landen a shout.

UKCT wish .5o the best of luck in their comeback.

CS:CZ

One of the most eagerly awaited games of 2003 and certainly one of the most delayed games to date appears to have some new up-to-date screenshots available. The new Counter-Strike: Condition Zero screenshot's don't seem to differ much to what's been previously released, but non-the-less a worth while view. Head on over to Worth Playing to check them out.
