ESWC: First qualifiers announced

The ESWC has now announced the first six qualifiers for it's 2010 season. Sadly no news on a UK event, but the ESWC UK site now has a Nvidia/ESWC splash page up so we might see some news soon.

Confirmed qualifiers:

Iran - 20th April
India - 14th May
France - 22nd May
Peru - 29th May
Romania - 29th May
Ghana - TBA

Some interesting countries there, that's for sure.

The finals take place on July 4th in Paris and the organizers plan to give away over £40,000 in the CS tournament.

H2k lose Zyppe, hyvlarn joins

Less than two weeks after joining the H2k.Gaming organization, we have already seen a change in the former Begrip lineup.

Samuel "Zyppe" Martinsson is leaving due to a lack of moativation and former TcM and Playzone man Jon "hyvlarn" Edelsvärd is joining.

H2k.Gaming is now:

Danny "pop" Oldenburg
Markus "pronax" Wallstenen

The teams first event will be The Gathering in a few weeks.

The first round of ESL's European Nations Championship is now over and the second round has been drawn.

Sadly Team Ireland defaulted their match due to several of their members being at wiredout 2.

Ireland to miss WCG 2010

Sadly it now appears that Ireland will be missing WCG 2010. Last year they only sent one representative in the form of a TrackMania Nations Forever player but it now seems the organizers will be skipping the event entirely.

WCG Ireland organizer Mark "Kinetic^" Kenny commented:

LanParty.ie and The Digital Hub regret to inform the gaming community here that there will be no WCG event this year in Ireland.

Ireland isn't seen as a key market for the sponsors of WCG (Samsung/Thermaltake etc). With restrictions in place on sponsors as well as requirements for marketing, funding for an event or even an offline qualifier like last year isn't going to work.

We may see a return of the event to Ireland next year.

Although we haven't seen an Irish 1.6 team at the event for a couple of a years, previous attending lineups included suiGeneris and mixteam Eugh.

Hopefully we'll see them back in 2011.

CB: NationsCup XIII: Groups nearly over

The groups are nearly over for ClanBase's NationsCup XIII. Sadly Team UK failed to make it through the groups and finished fifth in group D.
